OrgApp

OrgApp is a Java library to handle and draw organization charts (organigrams).

The library has also an applet and a Swing Java client able to view an organization chart read from a file, in different formats (one of them based upon XML).

The applet supports charts with different layouts and boxes with hyperlinks, customizable colors, sizes, positions, … and it is easy to embed in an HTML page.

To view the applet, you need a browser supporting Java Plug-in.

Organigram Applet

OrgApplet.jar is the applet to view the charts, the applet requires a browser supporting Java Plug-in (with a Java version higher than 1.5). The syntax is:

The parameters meaning is:

DataSource is the URL of the resource that contains the definition of the orgnanigram in any of the supported formats.
Target is the target used in links (unless a more specific will be present in the definition of the organigram node).
Data, if DataSource is not defined this fields holds the embedded definition of the chart in one of the supported format.
DataType is the type of the embedded definition (0=SOF, 1=TXT, 2=sitemap).

Organigram Application

OrgApp.jar is a stand alone Java application to view the organization charts, that can be launched with the syntax:

java -jar OrgApp.jar path_to_organigram.xml

where path_to_organigram.xml is obviously the path to the organigram in any of the supported format (format used is autodetected).

Organigram Converter

Convert.jar is a tool to transform an organization chart file from a format to another, the syntax:

java -jar Convert.jar input_file [output_type  | output_file] [fixup]

input_file is the path of the input organigram

output_type (optional) is the type of the output organigram, with the following encoding: 0 simple organigram format, 1 text organigram, 2 sitemap. The output will be printed to the screen, but can be redirected to a file (adding > path_to_output to the command).

output_file (optional) if this path ends with a Java ImageIO supported format a picture of the organigram is generated.

fixup (optional) if this parameter is present a “fix-up” is run.

The conversion form SOF format to another format can loose lot of information…

Organigram File format

OrgApp support three organigram file formats.

SOF, Simple Organigram Format is a XML based file format
Text Format, is a format where each raw is a node of the organigram
Sitemap format, as described in http://www.sitemaps.org

Server side helpers

The distribution contains server side library to easly integrate the applet.

OrgApp.inc is a PHP script to easly generate the HTML code necessary to draw the organization chart. Sample code:

OrgApp

OrgApp è una libreria Java per gestire e disegnare degli organigrammi.

La libreria include un'applet e un'applicazione Swing in grado di disegnare l'organigramma in base a una definizione letta da un file XML, da un file di testo o da un file che segue lo standard sitemap.xml.

La libreria supporta grafici con differenti layout e box con hyperlink, colori, dimensioni definiti dall'utente… ed è molto facile da includere all'interno di una pagina HTML.

Per vedere gli organigrammi è necessario un browser con il supporto al Plug-in Java.

Organigram Applet

OrgApplet.jar è l'applet per visualizzare l'organigramma e richiede un browser che supporti i Java Plug-in (e una versione i Java superiori alla 1.5). La sintassi è la seguente:

Il significato dei parametri è il seguente:

DataSource è l'URL della risorsa che contiene la definizione del orgnanigram in uno dei formati supportati.
Target è il target usato nei link (a meno di uno più specifico presente nella definizione nei nodi dell'organigramma).
Data, se DataSource non è presente in questo campo occorre inserire la definizione del organigramma in uno dei formati supportati.
DataType è il tipo di formato usato nella definizione dell'organigramma fornita nel campo data (0=SOF, 1=TXT, 2=sitemap).

L'applicazione

OrgApp.jar è un applicazione Java per riprodurre sul video gli organigrammi e deve essere lanciata con la seguente sintassi:

java -jar OrgApp.jar path_to_organigram.xml

dove path_to_organigram.xml è il path dell'organigrama in uno dei formati supportati (il formato viene riconosciuto automaticamente).

Il convertitore

Convert.jar è un tool per convertire un organigramma da un formato ad un altro, si deve lanciare con:

java -jar Convert.jar input_file [output_type  | output_file] [fixup]

input_file è il file di che contiene l'organigramma da convertire

output_type è il formato in cui convertirlo con la seguente convenzione: 0 SOF (simple organigram format), 1 formato test, 2 sitemap. L'output vieme mostrato a video, ma può essere salvato su un file aggiungendo (> path_to_output) al comando.

output_file (opzionale) se questo nome di file termina con un'estensione supportata da Java ImageIO viene generata una immagine dell'organigramma.

fixup (opzionale) se questo parametro è presente viene eseguito un “fix-up” dei dati presenti nella definizione dell'organigramma.

La conversione dal formato SOF verso gli altri può produrre perdite di informazioni…

Formati file degli organigrammi

OrgApp supporta tre formati di file.

SOF, Simple Organigram Format è un formato basato su XML
Text Format, è un formato testuale in cui ogni riga rappresenta un nodo dell'organigramma
Sitemap format, formato standard sitemap (http://www.sitemaps.org)

Controlla i file di definizione del primo organigramma e quello del secondo per ulteriori informazioni.

Integrazioni con applicazioni server side

La distribuizione di OrgApp contiene anche una libreria per agevolare l'integrazione dell'applet in una applicazione server side.

OrgApp.inc è una libreria PHP che genera il codice HTML necessario alla visualizzazione dell'organigramma. Ecco il codice di esempio per il suo utilizzo:

Introdotto il concetto di box mode introduce nella dispozione dei box in modo da controllare lo spazio da essi occupato. Le modalità sono:

Its capital is the town of Houmt Souk, which has about 65,000 inhabitants. It is one of the few places in Tunisia where the Berber is still spoken (in the village of Guellala). The island is connected to the hinterland through a road that runs through an artificial land strip of Romanic period.
